KS3 Homework Model

(50 x 5)

From September 2025, KS3 will use a specific model for homework and revision when not preparing to complete assessments in the 6 week build up.

50 minutes x 5 times a week

30 minutes of core each week.
- Sparx (Maths)
- Century (English)
- KayScience (Science)
30 minutes of revision, twice a week, each week.
Reading for pleasure for 20 minutes, 5 times a week

Core Homework Deadlines

Kay Science (Science) is due every Monday
Century (English) is due every Tuesday
Sparx Maths (Maths) is due every Wednesday

What About Other Subjects?

While the 50 x 5 model covers core academic areas, independent study habits and routines, each student will continue to receive additional homework for other subjects (e.g. History, Geography, MFL, PE, Art, etc.).

These tasks will be scheduled alongside the 50 x 5 model activities in students’ homework, revision timetables on an ad-hoc basis that subjects have designed to fit around their curriculums.

English, Maths and Science can also set additional paper-based homework outside the 50x5 model if this is required.
